El Baron Steakhouse in Potsdam

Hello ... we are often in Potsdam and always go out to eat at El Baron. We are always very satisfied. The food is great. We can't complain. Thanks to the cook and the whole team. I hope we'll see each other again soon. L.G. Schreiber

The beef was a bit tough. But the in-house tomcat could be admired. The view of the Brandenburg Gate is nice.

The steaks were "awesome"! Getting a 300 g steak really medium is not easy, but it worked perfectly here. Roasted aromas on the outside, not 3 mm deeper but medium, rare. Perfect! Friendly staff, in a good mood, absolutely recommendable. The ambience is something different. Dim light, all around wine bottles up to the ceiling, but clean and tidy. PS: The chilli beans as a side dish are a tip. I try to prepare them like this at home.

This is my second time here and I have to say that the food tastes very good, this time I had the Black Angus Burger, which I can only recommend. I can also say that the waitress (especially Patric) is very committed and nice. As a little bonus there is a cat that is in the restaurant from time to time. In conclusion, it can be said that it is definitely worth eating out in this restaurant!

We were there spontaneously with friends who kindly visited us in Potsdam. The day before we went to eat at El Barón was perfect so far. We were really hungry from the day and looked forward to the upcoming meal, if only they had brought us the menu first. After 15 minutes it was time, we ordered starters and main courses. After several questions, the starter and main course came together after a tender 1.5 hours. The waiter replied tacitly as he walked by with "coming soon". We let go of starters because they were no longer necessary. Food was just bad. I had a beef, lamb and pork grill platter, all dry and the lamb was just awful, absolutely not defending the price. In summary, it was a disappointment on every level.

The grumpy waitress suggested something bad, which was confirmed during the meal. The steak wasn't medium, it was almost the sole of a shoe; the onions were certainly warmed up the 2nd time, which suggested the fries in them, even though I hadn't ordered any fries. Another visit will not follow!

Never again, were there with 2 children. The order of the drinks was quick in contrast to the food order. We had to wait 30 minutes before the food could be ordered. Then the starter came 30 minutes after the order was placed and requested. And another 30 min. Later the main course, the steak and the baked potato cold, rice with the pan dish cold, french fries sticky. The waiter was complained about, A SMILE FROM HIM is like that. The shop wasn't full!

The food was delicious, the waiter was a brand 😄 very tart and distant, if not directly rude. However, I don't like fake amiability either, so he was kind of cool 😎

Food was ok. I expected more for a steak house. The steak was ok. Didn't taste better either. The waitress only made eye contact with my wife even though I spoke to him. Not exactly polite. And when asked whether you can pay by card, the answer was: prefer cash, because otherwise I have to get the device first. So all in all rather less recommendable.

The price / performance ratio is definitely appealing. The service is very friendly and attentive. The food (grill plate + veal liver) came quickly and we were completely satisfied. The mashed potatoes were definitely homemade from fresh potatoes. The restaurant has an original interior. Only the toilet area could be freshened up.

Local in a central location with a good terrace on the street. Unfortunately, the service is consistently inattentive. Once you have received and emptied your first drink, it takes forever before you even have the opportunity to order a second one. The somewhat older waitress urgently needs to check the effect of her appearance. She appeared impatient and sometimes sloppy. The food was enjoyable, but no reason to stop here again. Puntas Rez La Mexicana, a pan dish made from fried fillet strips of beef with vegetables in “Salsa Mexicana” with “fragrant rice”, was definitely not a culinary highlight. The salsa lacked any spiciness, the selection of vegetables was a bit poor. The so-called "fragrant" rice was completely bland. Unfortunately there was no cruet on the table to correct the overall lack of seasoning. There are better addresses in downtown Potsdam ...

Total failure, grilled platter of warm fries along with fiber meat, dry and gokelt, later still fried potatoes came in the role of the fried potatoes ordered, also tepid. No, it can be done better, more lovingly and tastier. The warm red wine could not save what could not be saved. Fortunately, this complaint did not sadden the service in any way.

During our short vacation in Potsdam we visited El Barón twice because it was so delicious. At first it didn't seem that inviting with the cardboard menu and the scowling waiter, but the steaks, which we even ordered twice there and the side dishes, were fantastic. And the waiter later turned into a personable, funny person. :)

I would not visit this restaurant again. It was average food. Steak was okay. French fries weren't that great. Even if it was thick french fries that are not my cup of tea. But that's a matter of taste. The service could have been better. At first we weren't really noticed and it felt like we were being served with great effort.

Very average food, huge menu, lots of choice but I would recommend making a smaller menu and being better at it. Service was good, parking is easy.

I ordered "Spieß vom Schwein" and meat was not tasty at all. I felt like I was eating a rubber.

Nice staff and really good food, the house wine (red) was really great. For Potsdam and Berlin with a great price/value relation. The location is simply great! Around the corner is a so called "ohne pack" shop. Means shop owners are selling mainly without packaging and sustainable food. (As much as possible). Potsdam in general and the surroundings of the Restaurant are enough for a weekend trip!

Very cozy and very good choice of meet. The service was good and and fast. Ideal for a relaxed evening tasting meet dishes cooked in a great way.

Bad service, average food

The portions were big. We took the salmon and the spare ribs. Spare ribs had a lit of ketchup. This could be less. And the waiter didn't asked us after the dinner how our meal was. A little additional service could be nice. Sharing is caring. But the overall quality if the food was good. An quite quiet and nice place to have a dinner. I would eat there another time if I have an opportunity. Two days later We've eaten there again. The service was very well. The waiter was very helpful and the meals were tasty.

One of the best dry aged steaks I've ever had in my life. Cooked to perfection. The waiters are very nice, friendly and attentive (especially Salim). Will come back again and again!

My family and I came there for a nice lunch but almost ended up staying till dinner. There was horribly slow service. There was one waiter that was serving all the tables (which weren’t that many outside and only one table inside) We ended up waiting 30 minutes for our bread to come! And the sides came before the main dish not on the side which I have never seen before. Also people who came after us received their food before ours. The food was fine but for a steak house i would not recommend it. If I could give this review 0/5 starts I would. Wish I had done like the group next to us and left when we got the chance.

Very nice atmosphere and lovely menu

Price performance perfectly ok ... I chose the offers from the lunch menu and for starters garlic bread .. Everything in one, I'll stop by here again.

Fantastic food!, the atmosphere was very cozy and fancy. The server was a very polite and sweet Italian man. The König Ludwig Dunkel dark beer they have on tap is amazing! We had a steak in a creamy mushroom sauce that was to die for! Would definitely recommend to stop here for lunch or dinner!

Had an extremely nice waitress who also had a good saying on her lips :-) The food was very good ... And the portion was completely sufficient for me. There is also an extra menu for lunch. Price-performance ratio was fine. Whenever we're around, we'll be happy to come back ...

Service was horrible. Waitress was inattentive to my table and had a whole attitude that we wanted English menus and wanted to pay with a credit card. She literally rolled her eyes at every request. Dont waste your time and money!

Waiting more than half an hour to order drinks and food is really outrageous. Then 15 more to bring the drinks (so 45+ minutes to get the drinks!). Food came then 55min after we came. But not all at the same time. Three people were eating and one person watching them eating at the same table. Forth plate came 5 min later. That is really a bad service! Salmon came overdone and totally dry. Meat was better. Spanish croqueta's were just breaded mashed potato. Not authentic

Excellent food and service decently priced

After nice cycling in a park I advise you to stay at that place. All what we have tried was just perfect, soups, salads, burger. Price is on average range. Service is quite good.

Good stakes. Extra digestive.
